According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, June and July were the hottest and second-hottest months on record in the U.S.They listed these as the summer’s top 10 hottest cities, based on how many days recorded above-historical-average temperatures:
#1. Louisville, Ky. — 73 days above normal temperature
#2. Memphis, Tenn. — 72 days above normal
#3. Atlanta, Ga. — 69 days above normal
#4. Raleigh, N.C. — 68 days above normal
#5. New Orleans, La. — 68 days above normal
#6. Indianapolis, In. — 67 days above normal
#7. Miami, Fl. — 64 days above normal
#8. Dallas, Tx. — 63 days above normal
#9. St. Louis, Mo. — 62 days above normal
#10. Washington, D.C. — 61 days above normal
This was our first summer in Memphis, so it's nice to know that this isn't normal. Maybe next summer we will make the below average list!
