Yesterday was my birthday. 29. That's one year away from 30. And it was probably the best birthday I've had in a long time. Not because we did anything special, but because I was with the people I love. It's my first birthday with my sweet daughter, and Daniel graduates from Optometry School next week, so it couldn't get much better. PLUS, since my birthday normally falls around Mother's Day, I used to have a hard time celebrating my birthday when a reminder that another year has passed and I still wasn't a mother was looming overhead. But now I am one, and I have a lot to be grateful for.
Daniel spent the morning making me a Carrot Cake. He was really proud of himself, and wanted to document all the steps. I don't really know why, because he always makes me a Birthday cake, and he is always amazing at it. But I gotta say, it was seriously yummy!!
I spent my morning making this car seat canopy. It was a little gift to myself. I love sewing, and I love having sewing projects. And this was something that I have wanted to make for a while, so I thought my birthday would be the perfect day to make it. I didn't really know what I was doing since I didn't have a pattern. I had only seen a picture of it online, and decided to give it a try. And I love it.
Most canopy's have just one piece of fabric over the front, but I decided to do a slit down the middle so that I could easily peek at Lyla, and so that one side can be down to block sun (in the car) while the other side up so she can still see out. Whatever........ I love it!!
We had a late lunch/early dinner at Genghis Grill, which is a Mongolian Restaurant. I got my meal for free because it was my birthday. And the food was seriously yummy!! But it was POURING down with rain, so we were both soaking wet while enjoying our food.
But it was a great day, and I don't know if it could've gotten much better!!
