Almond Roca

Daniel's family has a Christmas tradition of making almond roca. Every year, his mother makes a variety of yummy treats, but my favorite is by far, her Almond Roca. This year, Daniel and I are not going to be with his family for Christmas, and so have decided to take on the task ourselves. It is the best Christmas treat you'll ever make.

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 sleeve saltine crackers
2 cups chocolate chips
1/4 cup almond slivers

Preheat oven to 425'F. Layer a 9x13 dish with aluminum foil, and then a single layer of saltine crackers.
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together. Boil for 3 minuets on medium heat, as not to burn the mixture. Remove from heat and pour over crackers. Place in oven and bake for 5 minuets, or until mixture bubbles and crackers begin to float.

Remove from oven, and sprinkle an even layer of chocolate chips. Wait a few minutes for chips to start melting, and spread. Sprinkle almonds over melted chocolate. Allow to cool. Lift foil out of dish, and place on cooling rack to cool faster.Once the chocolate has set, remove foil, and cut into pieces. Making the pieces uneven adds a nice variety. This is seriously the most delicious thing you will ever taste, and so easy to make.

I'm not really a saltine fan, so this is not a recipe I would have ever tried, had I not tasted yours first. It was DELICIOUS!
